Privacy policy

In my opinion there are two points of view about workplace policy… As a future business manager, who has to be aware about employees behavior and has to decrease costs and expenses, I think that limiting the time people are not performing as it’s required is the key to achieve it…

But as an future employee I’m conscious that it’s very important for people to have leisure time… Because it might become a way to improve productivity. But to control that leisure time is correct… Hmm it requires for instance certain control systems as security cams, software and security guards…

I don’t agree with people checking if somebody’s connected to Facebook, MSN, Twitter, etc… It has to be verified with someone’s productivity… It’s unfair to feel that you don’t have the chance to check your personal e-mail or answer personal calls, cause that’s part of your life as an integral human…

In summary, it’s necessary to base work relationships between employer and employees on confidence… Maybe some periodic checks are fundamental, but they have to be established for people involved. Employees must give its best because they are not paid to make social life at work…

Balance is the principal way to do everything better…

Warriors without weapons...

Well… I don`t agree with war anyway… It`s been one of the worst episodes of the humanity. It`s incredible that people in the 21st century still think on eliminate other humans that don`t the same thoughts, feelings or idiosyncrasy… Or at least have something they pretend…

Nowadays, a lot of wars are happening and many innocents receive the impact of that catastrophe… None has enough power to control what`s going on with a group of people. That’s why many agreements are signed to make better our situation, to prevent more murders and injured people.

In Costa Rica we have the chance to enjoy peace however our country has a huge index of crimes, murders, violations and drunk drivers who really produce a lot of troubles for people to feel to relax and comfortable. Costa Rica has been taken as a paradise of drugs, prostitution and whatever crime people can imagine or cannot… Police, government and rules created have demonstrated that are not capable to control all problems that happen every day.

Personally, I think that in our country it is not necessary to have wars in order to feel insecure, we see day a day that crime is increasing and courts absolve criminals and let them to do whatever they want to… But as we know if somebody tries to preserve his/her life from a thief and make him/her damage… He or she will go to jail and probably will have stay there for a while, days or years…

Escats… Despasito…

It was a very nice concert… I`d never gone to Escats’ concert… The band sound was OK and I liked a lot its rhythm. I think Luis Alonso controlled perfectly the stage.

In spite of rain, a lot of people came to the auditorium; everybody sang its songs… And also the band offered a menu of covers from years and decades ago. The band members gave their best effort to make people enjoy the presentation.

I think as "ticos" we have to be conscious that Costa Rica has excellent artists.
Next time, don`t think it twice before you have the chance to assist to concerts of national musicians…

Spiritual Renewal…

Religion is something very difficult to refer to… Hmm it´s often complicated to give an opinion about it… Personally I don´t follow any religion because I only believe in god. It´s incredible when some people believe in priests and pastors because I think they stop prioritize god and Jesus as their real and unique objective or guide.

I consider extremes are not recommended… For example to me it´s a little bit crazy to be keep praying for hours and hours… I think first it´s not healthy and second it´s better to think about using my time helping people. There are more interesting ways to show your gratitude to God as making people to feel so happy.

Hmm… It´s unfair to use God as a way to become rich… God has to be a part of your life who has to support you in order to live better, more relax and very hopeful. I think money and material things come by your own effort… Destiny prizes people who have decided as a principle of life: to protect God´s creation.

Finally, I think there are some things that people could do for strengthening their spirit, for instances: being closer to poor people and doing your best to help them, trying to be always happy, thinking on helping people at every moment, quitting telling bad things about other people and being faithful to God. This is just about doing it for yourself and the people around you.

Feng Shui...

Feng Shui…

Feng Shui is an ancient Chinese tradition and technique, developed 4.000 years ago, that mixes philosophy and natural sciences in order to improve life. It´s not only a science but also an art, based on interpreting changes in nature and weather stars. This doctrine is focus on “chi”, referred to 'energy', as a sense of 'life force', which might be modified by the space form, the cardinal points and some temporal changes.

Now Feng Shui is getting more relevant for real estate investors, because they think it means a plus to sell buildings more expensive. First they offer this as a philosophy that provides a mental and physical change. It´s inspired on forms as: mirrors, crystals, sounds, thoughts, water, plants, gardens, and furniture orientation.

This doctrine is based on cardinal points, so they have different and important meanings. For instances north represents: career and business success and has water as its principal element, east: is related to vitality and youth and has wood as its element, south has fire as its element and represents fame, and finally west: has metal as its element and represents children and family.

In summary, believe Feng Shui works or not depends on you, some people might think it´s real but some other might not. This is an oriental custom that has become more and more popular lately. There are some people that consider this habit as pure consumerism, because occidental people have never had in lives.

Fracture

Fracture…

This is an interesting American drama movie filmed in 2007; the plot of the movie is about a 60 years old person (Mr. Crawford) who, after realizing his wife had an affair with a detective, decided to assassinate her with the own detective pistol. This movie makes you feel very upset because it seems to be incredible that someone commits a crime and there is no way no blame him.

It´s a cool movie that has a mix among some genres as: crime, drama, mystery and thriller. Inexplicably the movie involves two lives into a story; the older man who was accused of attempted homicide and has to defend himself about the crime and Williy Beachum, a lawyer, who has to find a way to take the suspect to prison.

It´s curious to me that the lawyer, who was the judgment fiscal, got so involved with the life of the protagonist´s wife. It was a strange relationship because he didn´t know her before, but he wanted to preserve her living. After the first judgment finished, the old man decided to disconnect his wife from the artificial respiration, which might suppose her dying.

Finally, Mrs. Crawford died and her husband was considered innocent because there were no tracks to accuse him. Mr. Beachum persists trying to blame him, what seemed a bit impossible, until the lawyer realized there is an important fact, as the lady died her husband might be accuse of assassination now. The movie ends when a new judgment is beginning, Mr. Crawford has to start his “salvation game” again…

The tipping point…

Appearance is a main point in young people because people need to belong to a group in order to have a higher self-esteem and self-confidence. People usually try to form a group with people that have some similar features. These features are defined as clothes, hobbies, sports, leisure activities, music, etc.

I remember when I was a teenager… Well… I didn´t use to do things just to be accepted by a group of people… For instance, at high school after class my friends used to go to a house to drink, smoke and some other things else… I just preferred to go out with my girlfriend or maybe just to play soccer with some neighbors…

I think it is essential a balance in life. Teens shouldn´t feel pressured about experiencing new hobbies or activities. It´s basic to know that young people are usually close to people a couple of years older and they try to imitate their behavior in order to be accepted.

It is curious that my friends used to have some different subcultures, depending on its clothes, sports, music, etc. For example some of them were called skaters, chatas, metal, ultras, mejengueros, etc… They might have belonged to more than a category for example someone might have been called meta- ultra.

In my high school sometimes subcultures represented a problem to attend. Differences in those subcultures produced a lot of problems, for example after class some fights among students were so usual. Some of them involved people from student´s neighbor and it had no final.

Finally, I think that respect and tolerance is basic to make a change and forget differences. Being original or just feeling you are is an excellent beginning.

Supersize me

This is an interesting movie produced in 2004, Morgan Spurloc is a guy who decided to eat a whole month in Mc Donald´s in order to demonstrate that junk food is really damaging for people.

Addiction is defined as: “being abnormally tolerant to and dependent on something that is psychologically or physically habit-forming”. There are a lot of people who suffer an addiction to food; it makes them to live surrounded by problems, as low self-esteem and self-confidence.

The Supersize me protagonist got many consequences for eating three times a day this food, for instance he got stomach problems, gained a lot of weight, had some heart problems and began to changed his physical appearance.

Fast food companies can´t warranty people that their products have benefits, they are not committed to inform things right because it might produce a crisis on its finances. Instead now they are focus on attracting younger consumer that little by little become more dependent to eat this kind of food very frequently.

Addictions make body and mind to go beyond their own capacity, emotions and feelings begin to be attacked and it is so difficult to get back. It´s necessary to receive professional attention because try to chance oneself is really hard and not everybody has enough strength to achieve it.

Personality

THE SECRET…

It was really amazing when I read The Secret… Well I have to be sincere… I´ve read it twice… It´s great! My life had a 180 degree change… The moment I read I started to be more conscious about my mind faculties. A friend of mine gave the book in a very difficult moment of my life because I was suffering some complicated problems.
This book made a new way to face life, now I´m more positive, mature, enthusiastic and relaxed person because I try to do my best with no stress and fear. A relevant fact is when I stopped thinking about problems and regretting about last decisions that I made.

One of the first good news I received since I read was that my health was fine because a couple of months before I had a problem in my stomach which produced some difficulties in my life.

After that, I´ve received lots of good news, for instances I started an English course at INA, I got a job at P&G, I received a scholarship at ULACIT to study publicity, I began TCU at UCR (it was so difficult to get) and my family started to be more united and I started a relationship with my girlfriend. And also my family members received some very important news, for example my brother got an excellent job, he started a major in the university, my mother´s retirement request was approved and my father improved his health.

I recommend to read it, I´ve lend this book to three very important people that I really appreciate and they´ve had very important changes first they´ve improved their life, financial situation and also sentimental relationships.
It´s essential to recognize that the book is not the secret, so the secret is in you, everybody has the possibility to achieve his/her goals, but it basically depends on the dedication, passion and faith to get it.

Honesty

To lie as a noun is known as: a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood, and as a verb like: to speak falsely or utter untruth knowingly, as with intent to deceive.

I think politicians are incapable of telling the truth. For example last week our “diputados” got caught in their lies. It seems to be incredible that “diputados” where elected two months ago by a majority of ticos and they swore to serve to poor people, be interested on our problems and try to make us live better than last years but it wasn´t true.

Actually “diputados” pretend to get an incredible salary increase over 100%, I mean now they earn 2.3 million colones and they want to get more than 4 millions colones. It´s important to say that a lie sometimes is totally different to omit some information but in this case it was obvious that during the electoral campaign none was suppose to say: “the first weak when we arrive to The Legisture Assembly we expect to approve our own salary increase”.
A lie is an action, a word or a gesture that very quickly will have consequences. People have to be sure that when they lie the truth will probably be known. It´s important to emphasize that is not suggested to tell a lie but sometimes it´s necessary because important events will depend on them.

Addictions

Sexual addiction

This term refers to the phenomenon in which individuals report being unable to manage their sexual behavior. Its three principal symptoms are:
• Persistent desire or unsuccessful efforts to stop, reduce, or control those behaviors
• Inordinate amount of time spent in obtaining sex, being sexual, or recovering from sexual experience
• Need to increase the intensity, frequency, number, or risk of behaviors to achieve the desired effect, or diminished effect with continued behaviors at the same level of intensity, frequency, number, or risk

This behavior often leads to the sexual abuse of an addict's coworkers, friends or sexual partners. It can make an addict to feel isolated, depressed and also will induce to commit suicide. Sexual addicts and their partners are at risk of contracting HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

An example of a Sexual Addict is the professional golf player Tiger Woods, his behavior was discovered last year since he and his wife had a car accident. Mr. Woods suffered a lot problems by that behavior, 15 women claimed to be his lovers, its career as golf player was in troubles because he stopped being an example for young people. His sponsor decided to stop or decrease their support. A couple of months later he started a sexual therapy in order to recover his life balanced.

In summary, sexual addiction must be treated by professional therapists and counselors and also this problem will be corrected in self-help groups like Sex Addicts Anonymous, and Sexaholics Anonymous for instance.
